Thanksgiving is here, and soon enough, holiday music will be playing in the air and on the screens. Many moms have made a significant impact in this industry, leading roles and producing. Some have also become directors, expressing the mom’s perspective. Here are some of our favorite holiday movies starring mothers. And a few that were created by and for moms.

  • A Kismet Christmas (2022, Hallmark), starring Marilu Henner, Sarah Ramos and Carlo Marks.

A Kismet Christmas is a love story with a lot of drama. Sarah, a children’s book author, comes back to her hometown to find her old flame, Travis. Shortly, old feelings begin to reappear and Sarah pursues an old family approach to find her true love. Can the Kismet cookies help her to bring about a happy life ever after?

 

  • Noel Next Door (2022, Hallmark), starring Natalie Hall and Corey Sevier. 

Noelle, a divorced mother, meets Jeremy at work. They quickly become attracted and start dating. Noelle has some problems at home that interfere with their relationship. One of the things that bother her is the way her grouchy neighbor is treating her son. After investigating, it turns out that Jeremy is the grumpy neighbor who has been taking offense at Henry’s ball bouncing off the apartment wall. Can Noelle and Jeremy overcome their animosity?   • My Christmas Fiancé (2022), starring Jack Parr, Jennifer Freeman, and Denise Richards. 

My Christmas Fiancé is a story about a man who falls in love with a woman who tricks him. Penn’s parents want him to get married, but he’s not interested in the idea. He decides to have someone act as his fiancé during a visit to his family during the holidays. Penn’s ex-girlfriend arrives on the scene, causing the ruse to become fraught with turmoil. Soon, her hasty escape turns into a learning experience about love, forgiveness, family, and the true meaning of Christmas.

 

  • Christmas Bedtime Stories (2022, Hallmark) starring Erin Cahill, Steve Lund and Charlie Weber.

This movie is a real tear-jerker. Danielle’s husband was a Marine who is presumed dead after going missing in action. He left behind his wife and young daughter. Three years after her father’s death, Danielle begins to tell her daughter stories about him. Some stories become true, often in strange ways. Is it a coincidence? What is fate? We’re not going to give away the ending of this story.
